To Love Rules verses to Let Love Rule
Calling a tax collector to be a follower. Living joyfully even if one were to fast. Eating with “sinners.” Twice, challenging the current Sabbath rules. Look at the contrast between the Pharisees (who really believe they are doing God’s will) and the actions of Jesus. Consider what each of these encounters tells us about what Jesus is up to. What do they say the Kingdom of God looks like in practice? How does Jesus push us to act differently from our own religious “rules?”
